A Portrait of the Natural World: A Year In The Southwest
In 2007-8 the artist completed a unique series of botanical images. She collected specimens from areas around her home in Northern New Mexico, and in the heart of the Southwest where New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Arizona meet. The specimens are not just plants from the Southwest, but those commonly found in North America in a wide climate range. Claudia' studio portraits are often arranged in unusual compositions. Some contain found objects discovered during site visits and create a dialog about the location. She used objects as birds, insects, rocks, sticks or other oddities found at a location. A small selection of images are now available exclusively in Fujiflex prints from Studio Botanicka, in New York. Please see the LINKS page to visit the gallery website. A book will be published in 2011 on the project.
